Sweets and Sushi in Kyoto

Posted on April 12, 2019April 10, 2019 by emiglia

Despite what my blog may have you believe so far, we didn’t spend our entire trip in Japan eating in fancy restaurants. We spent one evening substituting sweets from 7-11 for supper, and more than once, we ate convenience store sushi perched in a parking lot for lunch.

(It was one of our better decisions.)

Here are just a few of my favorite snacks and sweets from Kyoto.

Kyoto

Green tea and yuzu gelato from Shinpachi Chaya in Arashiyama.

Kyoto

Green tea mochi with a fresh spring strawberry.

Kyoto

Pastry cream filled fish.

Kyoto

Black sesame and white miso gelato from Premarché in Kyoto.

Kyoto

Seaweed-covered rice triangles (which you wrap yourself, to keep the nori from getting damp!)

Kyoto

And so very much…

Kyoto

Convenience store sushi.
