Prévelle Puts Plant-Driven Dining on a Pedestal

Posted on February 3, 2026January 26, 2026 by emiglia

Meat is typically a cornerstone of French dining, but at Prévelle, Romain Méder is focusing on plants first. And that’s not the only way this young chef is turning heads.

Le Bistrot des Fables is Not My Favorite Bistro… But I’m Glad it Exists

Posted on May 14, 2024April 16, 2024 by emiglia

Le Bistrot des Fables is not my favorite restaurant in Paris, but it does scratch an important itch. With its reasonable prices and copious – and possibly even excessive – portions of easy-to-love French classics without too many bells and whistles, it would be commendable no matter its location. Le Jules Verne is a Pure Delight

Posted on April 9, 2024July 8, 2025 by emiglia

Le Jules Verne was the very first Michelin-starred restaurant I ever went to, and now, just days after it earned its second star, I returned to enjoy one of the most pleasant, surprising, truly delicious fine dining meals I’ve ever had the pleasure to eat.

Old School Flavors with Old World Charm at Le Bistrot de Paris

Posted on November 14, 2023November 8, 2023 by emiglia

For an Old World bistrot that understands the assignment within spitting distance of the Musée d’Orsay, look no further.

Café des Ministères Is the Ideal Spot for Consequential Portions of Classic French Food

Posted on December 20, 2022December 16, 2022 by emiglia

Café des Ministères is exactly what one hopes for from a classic French bistro – the kind that has become thin on the ground in Paris in recent years.

In a World Forever Changed, L’Ami Jean Remains Resolutely the Same

Posted on May 10, 2022April 22, 2022 by emiglia

In the five years since my last visit, L’Ami Jean’s approach to Basque fare has remained just as pantagruelesque as ever.
