The Beatles Are Kings at Ob-La-Di

Posted on February 4, 2020 by emiglia

In recent years, Paris’ Marais has become chock-a-block with excellent coffee shops, so it takes some effort for one to stand out. Ob-La-Di manages to do so nevertheless with a musical theme, a clean, bright aesthetic, and healthful food options.

Ob La Di

The pocket-sized shop is located on a quiet street not far from Candelaria and boasts big windows allowing tons of natural sunlight to filter through. Stop by at lunchtime or on the weekends and you may be out of luck when it comes to finding a seat; I prefer to seek out my spot first thing on a weekday morning, when the shop is quieter.

Once inside, an assortment of baked goods awaits, from cookies to banana bread. There are also a few brunchier options like açai bowls and granola.

I have a hard time sampling some of these options – not because they’re not delicious, but because in the name of gluten-free, they use quite a bit of buckwheat, to which I am deathly allergic.

Scones do not pose this problem.

Nor, for that matter, does this delicious-looking orange galette.

For some, this antioxidant ball is the best pick-me-up from Ob-la-Di.

For me, it’s Beatles music and filter coffee.
