pisco sour - le perchoir

Delicious Cocktails (And Even More Delicious Views) at Le Perchoir

Posted on August 28, 2018August 27, 2018 by emiglia

I often get asked by clients and visitors to Paris where to go for a meal with a view. I always hate to burst their bubbles, but there are very few spots in the city that offer both great food and great views (and the handful of exceptions have prices that deter most folks, including yours truly).

Le Perchoir

But Le Perchoir is different. This rooftop bar in the 11th is home to awesome cocktails, a great vibe, and some of the best views of the city, specifically Montmartre and the striking Sacré Coeur basilica (which, of course, I did not photograph… because I’m an idiot).

(That said, here’s a little glimpse care of le Perchoir itself.)

Le Perchoir

While le Perchoir does apparently boast a restaurant downstairs, I’ve only ever visited the bar area, which has two self-service spots: a cocktail bar, complete with mixologist, and a snack hut, where they serve jazzed up cheese and charcuterie boards.

Le Perchoir

The bartenders (and, let’s be honest, the other patrons) definitely made me realize I had entered into another universe. Everyone was dressed to the 9s (hipster style), and the bartenders put on a show with their shakers as they mix up each individual drink (which can make the line a bit long).

(TBH, at one point, I had to look away to keep from laughing, given the earnestness of the bartender in his showmanship.)

But the drinks… are astounding. My favorite was the Pisco Sour, which was absolutely perfect (and gorgeous to boot). The cozy, lounge-like atmosphere makes you feel like you’re on vacation – not in the middle of an urban center – and the combination of great music and sunshine makes this one of my favorite summer spots.

This bar is only open seasonally, and if you want a seat, you’ll want to arrive early. The last time I visited, my friends and I showed up promptly at 6:30, when it opened; by 7pm, there were no more seats to be found.

(And this was on a rainy evening – which we didn’t mind, thanks to my friend’s avocado umbrella.)

Le Perchoir

Turn up early, though, and you’ll have a top-notch experience.
