Le Grand Bain has been a stalwart standout of mine for years, through multiple chefs and many, many seasonal menu changes. My most recent visit was just one day after Chef Emily Chia, who has been running the kitchen with aplomb, took her final bow, and given the estival weather, it also gave me the opportunity to take a few slightly more appetizing photos than I have on previous visits. 

The original chain restaurants – and, perhaps, the original “fast food,” – bouillons are crowded, quick-service restaurants. They’re also bar none the best places to eat classic French fare in Paris.

Treize au Jardin is a massive café with a kitschy-chic interior and a gorgeous view of the Luxembourg Gardens.

I didn’t think Laurent Dubois’ croque monsieur could improve, and I’m so glad to have been proven wrong.
